Frequently Asked Questions

We hope that you can find the answer to your questions here. If not, please try the website chat feature before contacting us.

You can expect formal invitations early 2027 but please use the early RSVP form to let us know if you plan to celebrate with us or not - both for the welcome party and the wedding! Our planning team and seating chart designs thanks you in advance!

You've got options so pick your adventure:

Drive (from within New England): Bar Harbor is on Mount Desert Island, about 3 hours from Portland and 1 hour from Bangor. Take I-95 to Bangor, then Route 1A to Route 3 onto the island. Gorgeous drive, one bridge, you can't really mess it up.

Fly into Bangor (BGR): The closest major airport, about a 1-hour drive to Bar Harbor. Plenty of rental cars at the airport.

Fly into Hancock County–Bar Harbor (BHB): The tiny local airport in Trenton, about 20 minutes from the hotel. Flights are limited and seasonal (mostly connections through Boston), but if the timing works, it's the easiest door-to-door option by far.

Fly into Portland (PWM): More flight options than Bangor, then a ~3-hour drive up the coast to Bar Harbor.

Fly into Boston (BOS): The most flight options of all, then either a ~5-hour drive or a short hop on a connecting flight to BHB or Bangor if you'd rather not road-trip it.

However you get here: August is peak season on the island, so book flights and rental cars early because the good options go first.

We're so lucky that the wedding venue doubles as a hotel. The Harborside has rooms right on site, and you can book through the link on this site under lodging.

That said, staying at the Harborside is not required, and we don't expect everyone to stay on-site.  Bar Harbor is full of other options: charming inns and B&Bs downtown, other hotels in town, and tons of Airbnbs and vacation rentals all over Mount Desert Island (look at Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Northeast Harbor). Pick whatever fits your budget, your vibe, and your goal for the weekend. Please just book it early, because August on the island fills up fast and the good places go first.

We love your kids, truly. But we'd like our wedding to be an adults-only celebration unless we have specifically listed your children on the official invite. We invite you to enjoy a kid-free weekend with us! You've earned it. Consider this your official permission slip to let loose with us.

Friday: Rehearsal Dinner & Welcome Party

Rehearsal Dinner: Coastal cocktail attire - think dressy but relaxed, Maine-summer style. Sundresses, jumpsuits, or cocktail dresses, and button-downs with slacks or chinos. Sport coats welcome but not needed, ties not required.

Welcome Party: Coastal cocktail attire - think dressy but relaxed, Maine-summer style. Sundresses, jumpsuits, or cocktail dresses, and button-downs with slacks or chinos; polished but comfortable for mingling. No need for jackets or ties.

(Chris says just wear what ever)

Saturday: Wedding Day

We are requesting our guest wear Formal Black Tie, all black

Ladies: a black dress, long, midi, or cocktail length — and bring a pair of flats to change into, because we fully intend to dance it up.

Gentlemen: a black suit or black dress pants with a white dress shirt and black jacket and a tie optional for the ceremony (please no black-on-black). Once the reception starts, lose the tie and let loose — that's encouraged. Tuxes are absolutely not required, but if that's your vibe, we're here for it.

Please check out our Pinterest Boards for outfit inspiration!

Friday Attire

Saturday Attire

If you ask Chris, the forecast is dry with a 0% chance of rain.

Here is the real forecast: August on Mount Desert Island is beautiful, with daytime temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s and plenty of sunshine. It is perfect weather for Acadia, boat tours, and wandering around town. In the evenings, though, it cools off fast once the sun sets, dropping into the high 50s and low 60s with a breeze off the water. Bring a light layer, like a wrap, sweater, or jacket, for both Friday's welcome party and the wedding night. You will be glad you did by the last dance.

Additional notes: the ocean stays around 60 degrees even in August, so swimming is brisk at best, and coastal weather can turn on a dime. Morning fog, afternoon sun, and a surprise shower are all possible in the same day. If it does rain on the wedding day, we have an indoor backup already locked in. Chris, however, maintains it will not rain.

Plenty — you're on Mount Desert Island in August, so make a weekend of it.

In town: Wander Main and Cottage Street for shops and galleries, get a lobster roll and something blueberry (pie, soda, ice cream, all of it), and walk across the land bridge to Bar Island at low tide — just watch the clock, the ocean does not care about your plans.

Acadia National Park: Drive the Park Loop Road, stop at Sand Beach and Thunder Hole, and walk the Ocean Path. Jordan Pond House for popovers is non-negotiable. If you're ambitious, Cadillac Mountain at sunrise is the first place the sun hits the US — just know you'll need to book a vehicle reservation for Cadillac in advance during summer.

On the water: Whale watching tours, a sunset sail on the schooner Margaret Todd, a lobster boat tour, or kayaking along the coast.

Worth the drive: Bass Harbor Head Light and the quieter Southwest Harbor side of the island, about 30 minutes away.

The free Island Explorer shuttle runs all over the island in summer, which is your best friend for avoiding August parking chaos.

So kind of you to ask! We will list all of our registries here once we create them.

Please don't. We have two photographers and two videographers. They all have permission to take your phone and throw it into the ocean if you try to pull it out during the ceremony.

Again, please don't. We have hired an outstanding team of photographers and videographers to capture the ceremony and all of the formal events of the reception. Check out our Photo Booth and wait until the dance floor opens to break out those phones!

Plus 1s will be denoted on your invitations accordingly.  If you bring someone unexpected they should also bring a sandwich and a chair (per Chris)

We have a rockstar vendor team! Elli will be our head photographer and Riley Bridges will be our head videographer. Each of them will have a well-seasoned second shooter - totaling 4.

Tell us on your RSVP and we'll make sure you're fed something better than a sad side salad.

An all black ,black tie. We do not expect James Bond, so no pressure for a full suit or a tux. Think formal and polished, the fancy end of your closet. Gentlemen, black pants, a white dress shirt, and a black jacket are perfect, and a tie is optional at the ceremony. Ladies, a black dress in a long or cocktail length works beautifully, and feel free to bring flats for dancing. The theme is all black, with a white shirt for the gentlemen to keep it classic.
